We offer you a whole universe. It is a coherent and live world in which each character really exists. Even leaving players’ field of vision, other ships and planets continue their own adventures, living their own lives as long as the game lasts.
All captains of the ships are real, and have their own plans and purposes. Computer intelligence’s main goal is to survive at any cost. They will get money by trade, or possibly bribery and extortion; upgrade obsolete equipment and repair broken items; they will attempt to flee from the battlefield if they think the enemy is too strong. All this happens all the time. Pirates look for easy targets to milk for money or cargo, transports are obsessed with making profits, military fleet will protect its star system from enemies. The most intelligent and versatile characters are rangers, free pilots whose primary task is to help the military in stopping the invasion of new unknown enemies, Klissans. Any ranger you meet in the game could be a hero, or possibly a rascal who has become a ranger for easy money.
You have the chance become one of the adventuring Rangers, and it is possible that it is you who will, in the end, save the Galaxy. Every living thing in the world is in grave danger!
Space Rangers is a multi-genre computer game by the Elemental Games, released by 1C Company in 2002. It is critically lauded and popular in its home country, Finland and parts of Eastern Europe, although not so popular elsewhere due to lack of marketing. In 2004, 1C Company published a sequel, Space Rangers 2.
In Space Rangers, a relatively peaceful interstellar coalition is invaded by a powerful enemy; the organic warships of the Klissans. The player is a Ranger, one of a group of non-military volunteers who are given small ships, free rein and the task of helping to battle, understand and ultimately defeat the menace.
The game is dynamic and open-ended in a fashion that has been compared to Elite and Star Control 2. Trade prices on planets follow supply and demand, the wars are ongoing non-scripted conflicts, computer-controlled ships have individual capabilities, goals and relations, etc. There are even several ways to complete the storyline. The games have turn-based space travel and combat, optional shoot 'em up sequences and occasional bits of text adventure.

The player becomes a ranger, selects a race, and gets a space ship and necessary equipment. Since that moment he finds himself in a real world of rangers which does not exist in any other computer game where he can engage in all possible types of activities: fight in the space or the hyperspace, buy and sell goods, accomplish government tasks, liberate planets from dominators in 3D battles and, of course, play text quests each of them being a separate game. It is impossible to foresee the development of events. The game may finish with a victory of either side or last endlessly. Everything depends on actions of the player and dwellers of this live and developing world where you can live a life of a wicked pirate as well as that of a glorious hero able to make out the origins of dominators’ onset and put an end to this bloody war.
